D’espairsRay played at the Roxy Theatre during their 2010 Human Clad Monsters World Tour. This Japanese visual kei rock band has had international success for over a decade, but recently disbanded due to lead singer Hizumi’s recurring throat troubles.  Read the rest of this page »

Dir en grey @ Club Nokia

I’ve been a huge fan of Dir en grey for quite some time now and their show last year was my first big gig as a concert photographer. Because of that, shooting them will always be special for me. Even with a year of experience under my belt, I was still as thrilled and nervous before shooting them this time as I was before that first show.

Evaline – Dir en grey/Apocalyptica Tour @ Club Nokia

Evaline

Evaline opened for Dir en grey and Apocalyptica for the two bands’ co-headlining tour stop in Los Angeles at Club Nokia. Evaline is a high-energy band that really got the crowd rocking for the rest of the night’s acts. Lead singer Richard Perry was a constant ball of energy and even jumped over the barricades to get closer to the fans.  Read the rest of this page »

Opus Däi – Human Clad Monsters @ the Roxy Theatre

Opus Däi at the Roxy Theatre

Opus Däi opened for D’espairsRay at the latter’s Los Angeles stop of their Human Clad Monsters World Tour. Since I had a good spot at the front of the stage I thought it’d be a great opportunity to take some shots of this band to get myself ready for the main event. These guys put on a great show and got the crowd pumped for D’espairsRay.

I just picked up some new glass! This is a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX for Nikon AF. I got this lens because I am missing a very wide lens in my arsenal and this one is the best bang for the buck. Here’s a little preview of the lens.

Can you identify this man?

Can you identify this man?

While covering the Yoshiki Foundation Benefit Bash for Jrock Revolution, I stumbled upon someone interviewing this guy that looked somewhat familiar… can you figure out who it is? It’s pretty easy if you grew up in the 90′s.

Welcome!

Welcome to my photography blog! I will be using this blog to discuss photography projects/assignments and review any equipment that I buy. I hope to be insightful when I can, but I don’t promise anything.

A little bit about me… I am a freelance photographer based in Southern California. I like to shoot rock shows, but I’ll also shoot other events like weddings or sporting events.

Feel free to contact me about any any events you are doing that you’d like me to shoot. As I am still gaining experience in this field, I work for a very reasonable fee.
